Over $1,000,000 in competitive research funding 1972-2007, mostly from the Medical Research Council of Canada and the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation. Member of the Scientific Executive of the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1986-1991, and Chair of the Pharmacology/Physiology Grants and Awards Committee, 1988-91. Reviewer for the Medical Research Council, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, the National Science and Engineering Research Council, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the National Board of Medical Examiners (US), as well as for academic journals of pharmacology and education

PUBLICATIONS etc.

More than 150 articles on pharmacological research (mostly concerned with cerebrovascular spasm) and on medical education, and a similar number of abstracts. More than fifty invited presentations in eighteen different countries

GRADUATE STUDENT SUPERVISION

(1974- ) 5 PhD students, 9 MSc students. Member of more than 40 supervisory/examining committees for students in Pharmacology, Medical Education, Surgical Education, Biochemistry, Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacy, Zoology, Mathematics, Sociology and Music.

  • Edmonton Opera: Board of Directors (1993-1997), Artistic Liaison Committee (1999-2002)
  • Chair, Concerto Competition Jury, Edmonton New Music Festival (1999), Programming Committee, Edmonton Symphony (1998-2002)
