Nigel Ashworth

Dr Ashworth is an Associate Professor and Head of the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Alberta. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Division of Neurology and in the School of Public Health. He is a teacher, researcher and consultant in clinical neurophysiology and is the director of the EMG laboratory at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton. Dr Ashworth is also an epidemiologist with an interest in neurorehabilitation and is the Regional Clinical Program Director for Rehabilitation, for the Capital Health region, Alberta.

Dr Ashworth received his degrees, training and experience in a variety of places including the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Canada. He is a Canadian Institutes of Health Research funded researcher and has published over 40 research papers and several book chapters. He authors the chapter on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome for the BMJ Clinical Evidence series and the chapters on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Brachial Neuritis for Emedicine.
